[Review] SENKA Perfect Gel Make up remover

there are so many types of make up removers… i’ve tried oil, cream, watery, and now… GEL
SENKA has so many types of make up removers and i deliberated for very long as all of them sounds so good and effective.

i did not regret my decision. i have been using this 1st tube for about 2 months and shd share this before its gone!
pardon the old label cos i just used it!

this can be used wet or dry!! i usually use it wet cos i will be in the bathroom washing my face anyways.

for me, make up remover must be able to remove all traces of make up completely.
im not particular about cleaning the grease or skin caring properties cos those will be fulfilled by cleanser and skincare products.

using my hand as guinea pig again..
here’s all my make up applied on my hand and dried up. eyeshadow, lipstick, eyeliners, blush, everything!

FYI im using my most waterprood mascara from maybelline MAGNUM. its so resistance that the ONLY way to completely remove it is to use physically wipe off on the eyelash with fingers or cotton pad.

the gel is white and smells nice 🙂 me likes 🙂

sorry for the blur image cos my right hand is obviously covered with gel and cant take properly.
left with eyeliner and mascara

going to rinse with water and rub!!

and after patting it dry… you can still see some eyeliner and mascara.
i’ve decided its really the mascara’s fault. anyway mascara is on eyelash not skin so nvm lah.

another cleanse with my regular cleanser.

i like this make up remover because
1) it does a great job removing my make up
2) affordable $13.90 if i remember correctly
3) can remove everything in 1 step. i hate having to use eye remover than make up remover
4) very impt, does not sting my eye! i hate those that stings when i rubbing my eyeliner
5) cusioning soft feel on my skin when rubbing and massaging
6) skin is not dry after washing off

took the 2 photos a few days back after a regular day at work with make up
see so close to my eyeball and no feeling!
so far the ONLY other make up remover that is this good is the FANCL Mild cleansing oil. that also doesnt sting my eyes.
but that cleaning oil is quite pricey so i am looking for alternatives.

i think this will be my 2nd choice 🙂
only downside is that this has preservatives which i try my best to avoid.

You can find this at selected Watsons stores in Singapore 🙂
they have like 4 types of make up remover! whichever type you prefer or suits you also have!

read QiuQiu’s blog post to find out more ba!! very detailed and chio pictures

[Review] Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution

I received this sample version of in one of the Bellabox – this one is the Sensibio version.

I have also tried the Bioderma Sebium H2O before

Perfect thing to bring on traveling cos of the small size and easy to use for lazy and fuss free make up removal

Bioderma is very popular for its mild yet effective make up removal. in fact i use in on lazy days when i just wipe and go to bed. and i was wearing moderate make up.

From the Bioderma site:b1

• Sensibio H2O is an ultra-mild cleansing formula, use it with the utmost care.

Soak a cotton pad with Sensibio H2O and cleanse the face and eyes and/or remove any make-up.

Repeat the application until the cotton pad remains clean.

Sensibio H2O needs no rinsing, but it is essential to dry your skin. Dry gently. Dab your face with a clean cotton towel.

• Sensibio H2O can be used daily, morning and evening.

made in france, and last 12 mth after opening

it normally takes about 3 cotton pads for me to remove all my make up:

i dont put mascara or eyeliner usually so no black stains.

i love this product, its a must have in every lazy girl’s regime.

even if you are not lazy type, you should have this as a normal make up remover too cos its so effective in removing every trace of stubborn make up before you cleanse your face.

[Review] Philosophy – Purity Made Simple

Ah, I’ve finally gotten down to reviewing this HG cleanser of mine. First, let’s see what this product claims to deliver.

A highly effective one-step facial cleanser. Philosophy Purity Made Simple is a pH-balanced formula that rapidly dissolves dirt and makeup while deep cleaning pores. The best-selling cleanser contains infusions of sage, chamomile, and carrot.

Water, Sodium Lauroamphoacetate, Sodium Trideceth Sulfate, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Coco-Glucoside, Coconut Alcohol, Peg-120 Methyl Glucose Dioleate, Aniba Rosaeodora (Rosewood) Wood Oil, Geranium Maculatum Oil, Guaiac (Guaiacum Officinale) Extract, Cymbopogon Martini Oil, Rosa Damascena Extract, Amyris Balsamifera Bark Oil, Santalum Album (Sandalwood) Oil, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Oil, Cinnamomum Cassia Leaf Oil, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Seed Oil, Piper Nigrum (Pepper) Seed Extract, Polysorbate 20, Glycerin, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Yellow 5 (Ci 19140).

Research results (taken from Sephora):
-100% reported that the cleanser is gentle enough for the eye area.
-97% reported effective removal of dirt, oil, and makeup.
-97% reported a clean, residue-free finish.

back of the bottle

I’ve read about this highly raved cleanser for years before actually trying it since it wasn’t available in Singapore yet at that time. The first time I tried it was at Kun’s place. Since then, I only bought it when friends are collating orders to do bulk purchases from the US to save on shipping costs. Bath and beauty products are heavy so it was pretty pricey. So during my trip to the US in March, I stocked up on the bigger bottles and bought many smaller trial bottles to give to my gfs. Speaking of the smaller bottles, the size is perfect for travelling BUT pls don’t bring it anywhere cos it leaks! With both the screw cap as well as the flip cap.

Don’t you just love Philosophy’s branding?

Ok, let’s move on the the actual review.

Use about this much

Doesn’really lather up

How it looks after massaging 30 sec on face. Purity claims to the a one-step cleanser. This is true only if you’re not wearing any makeup or if you use at least a generous 50c amount. And even then, don’t count on it removing your waterproof mascara (you’d need a separate cleanser for that). Some mornings I will use this alone with my hands, while in the evenings I prefer to use this together with my Clarisonic Mia (another HG). Even though it doesn’t lather very much, I love the creamy consistency of this product. Upon rinsing, it doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight and dry, just a clean refreshed feeling. I think another reason why this cleanser is refreshing is its smell. The light subtle scent tweleve essential oil blend including rosewood, sandalwood and sage reminds me of a spa retreat. Needless to say, I will continue to repurchase many times over.

Currently, Philosophy is available at Sephora Singapore & Changi Airport Transit Lounge. You can check out Philosophy Singapore FB page here.

[Review] Caudalie Cleansing Water

Hi everyone! So silly me forgot to pack my trusty Decoderm Cleansing Lotion. I took this chance to try another makeup remover. Off I went to Sephora and got their SA to recommend me something. My requirements were:-

  • Makeup remover for both face & eye
  • Need not remove waterproof makeup
  • Something that is travel friendly

And boy, did I get more than I bargained for. Here is the Caudalie Cleansing Water.

Here’s what this seemingly unassuming product claims and does for me.

“It is a 3 in 1 soap free, non rinse cleanser, makeup remover & toner for face and eyes”

Now, I only wanted a makeup remover. As a makeup remover, it was able to remove my rinsable Dior Iconic Extreme mascara and waterproof Revelon Eye Pen. Sometimes I do use a cleansing water in the morning when I don’t feel the need to use a heavier cleanser (since I washed the previous night before I sleep). So it’s nice to have a multipurpose product. Although for me, i almost always prefer to do a rinse after using these types of non-rinse cleansing water, mostly out of habit than anything. I haven’t tried this in place of my toner so can’t comment on that.

“Suitable for sensitive skin, dermatologist & ophthalmologist tested and suitable for contact lens wearers”

I don’t have sensitive skin but this water doesn’t bite or sting me skin, even around the eye area. Since I don’t wear contact lens anymore, I can’t comment on that. I however remember the days when removing makeup with contacts on can sometimes be unpleasant.

“Parabens and sulfates free”

“Micellar water captures dirt like tiny dirt magnets”

When I use it as a cleansing water in the morning, it removes a layer of dirt and oil, something that my Vichy cleansing water did not pick up as much.

Other things I like about this was that it was a screw lid (no spillage) and the bottle is squeezable. The smell is refreshing and reminds me of cucumbers.

The cons would be the price. A bottle of 100ml is USD14 before sales tax. I’ve already used more than half the bottle and it has only been 15 days.

[Review] Bioderma Sebium H2O Micelle Solution

i have been using alot of new products starting from last month, trying out new pdts from window shopping and also reading other reviews. one of the new pdt i am trying now is from my Taiwan loot: the famous Bioderma Sebium H2O Micelle Solution

this is the 100ml bottle for SGD11 from Watsons in Taiwan. Then after that a friend coming back from HK was telling me the HK promo price is 500ml for SGD23. =(( and so i bought that too – dollar cost average

initially i had no idea what i am suppose to do with this, although i have read that this is like a non rinse make up remover. i am still not v comforatble with removing my make up and cleans with this all in one step daily, so i wanted to keep it for super lazy days where i need to get to bed ASAP. smthg like the cleansing express.

after reading the description over and over, i decided to use this as my night toner. and keep the loccitane rice toner as my day toner… too many choices haha

the description (translation from Chinese): 4 in 1 solution – removes make up, cleanse, tone, moisturize. no need to rinse. does not contain soap. can control oil and tighten pores. after using, skin feels refreshed and clean.

Meant for oily / combination / whiteheads skin. (so me).

directions: just pour appropriate amt on cotton pad and gently swipe over entire face including eyes and lip areas. no need to rinse. can be applied again as toner and moisturizer.

this is me using after washing my face today

i would say its really not bad, the smell is subtle and calming. i tried with make up before, it really does a recent job with removing make up and face feels moisturized and very clean after that. just that i always wake up with sticky skin when i use these 1 step to bed cleaner. not that it is bad for skin, just that i prefer a more thorough 4 step method if i can.
definitely a product to try as your toner or ‘cleanser’ when you are at home the whole day and just want to remove the oil and dirt after some time without washing.

Update 3 mar: i used it again last night and this time i dont get the sticky feeling after waking up. also, skin feels very refreshed and clean and clear.

I am beginning to fall in love more with this pdt. it is so gentle to my skin yet super effective in removing any traces of makeup. i hereby am going to update the rating to 4.5!

[Review] Cleansing Express cleansing lotion

i know it’s been a while since i last posted a review, been want to do one last week but was crazy busy at work. also i lost my iphone yesterday so spent most of the night calling places and wallowing in self pity =P

the Cleansing Express range can be bought at all Watsons store, Im not sure if Guardian has this yet… and i chanced upon it about 2 years ago. this bottle I am reviewing today is my 2nd one and i want to share how amazing this pdt is…

the philosophy of this product is easy “ready for bed as soon as possible!” sounds like what a lazy lady like me needs. and since the bottle is only 50ml, i know its perfect for travelling, although i used it in SG only so far, when i reach home late and i just want to concuss asap.

this cleasning lotion 1) removes make up, 2) cleanse, 3)tones, 4) moisturize!! dont you just love japanese inventions. =))

i took a photo of me in full make up , mascara, gel liner and all but my phone is missing so i just redid on the back of my hand. this is after putting on make up and drying for 15 min…

to prove the effectiveness of this, i am going to wash my hand with hand soap, kirei kirei to be precise…

after washing and lots of tugging on my skin, this is the most i can remove… left with the gel liner, pencil liner and some concealer

pour moderate amt of lotion on a cotton pad…

and just wipe gently multiple times over the same area..

the black liner will flake of easily! and needless to say the pencil liner comes off instantly!!

you must be thinking, how can 1 product serve 4 functions right? i also cant believe it until i try it! each time after i use this all over my face, it really feels like its been cleansed, toned and moisurize!! scary i know…it even smells like it!! not sure about you but i usually have a slight slight mosit heavy feeling on my skin after moisturizing, and this also has that feeling except that it is slightly stickier than my usual end of 3 step feeling.

i can really go to bed with no worries and feeling clean.

the next day after waking up, there’s no break outs or anything, just a same light sticky feel and by then, i would have washed my face with a normal cleanser and all is good.
of cos, this should not be replacing your 3 step, but as an alternative when you really are tired and just want to remove make up and sleep. im sure thats the product’s philosophy too.

for late outgoers and lazy nights, this is a must have. i believed there are 3 types of this Cleansing Express product. one is more moisturizing, and mine is ‘agecare’ with the milky liquid, and i cannot rmb the last…

[Review] Quick & Easy Make up removal – The Face Shop Herb Day Cleansing Wipes

Recently i am caught in a situation where I forgot to bring my makeup remover and needed to get one outside for use that day.
Not wanting to get smthg expensive/volumous, since its only for 1 time use, I do not have many options.

I was at PS and in a rush, so i stepped into the nearest Skincare shop at the time – The Face Shop.

most of their makeup removers are bottles which can last me for many months and > $15 so its out.

then i chance upon this:

this cost about $6 for 20 sheets and looks like it is exactly what i need !

good thing is i was only wearing moderate make up that day, no eyeliner or mascara, so this is perfect.

It is (quoted) “saturated in the herbal cleansing complex formulated with Botanic and Rosemary extract that purifies the skin, these convenient facial cleansing wipes purif the skin while cleansing it gently..”
the ingredients list behind also shows alot of plant extracts 🙂 its smells more like synthetic soap than herbs though.

results: make up is properly removed and skin feels cool and refreshing. would recommend this for quick and convenient make up removal of light to moderate make up. not recommended for heavier make up.
