[Review] Clarins Gommage Exfoliant Peau Neuve – Smoothing Body Scrub For a New Skin with Bamboo Powders

Standard

I love Clarins products. Yes, they are considered a splurge and somehow I ended up with this body scrub because my sister decided she didn’t want it (cos of the hefty price tag) after I have already bought it. Hmm, 50 bucks on a body scrub? I could probably find something much lesser, like my favourite Soap & Glory Flake Away (note: the recent tub I bought was of lesser quality somehow, very disappointing)

Exfoliating your skin is an essential step for a beautiful body and with Smoothing Body Scrub For a New Skin, it’s also a genuine skin renewing treatment. Thanks to a dual exfoliating and “conditioning” action, it eliminates a dull appearance and provides skin with all it needs to be beautiful. This is the result of a combination of natural bamboo powders and soothing and protective plant extracts.

To eliminate a dull appearance, Bamboo Powders & Moringa extract
Bamboo powders are microbeads of natural silica obstained from the substance collected from the plant stems. In perfect affinity with the skin, they have a gentle exfoliating action which eliminates dead skin cells and rough skin. The extract of Moringa – a tree from Africa whose seeds are used to purify water – removes accumulated toxins.

To provide it with all it needs to be beautiful, Mimosa Tenuiflora, Liquorice & Shea
Liquorice and Mimosa Tenuiflora, the Mexican “skin tree” recognised for its exceptional repairing benefits, soothe and protect skin against irritation. Shea maintains the balance of the hydrolipidic film and envelops skin in a delicate veil of softness, to ensure comfort for all skin types, even dry & sensitive skin.

To be used once or twice a week, on dry or damp clean skin. Massage in, concentrating on elbows, knees and heels. Rinse well with warm water.

I squeezed a little out onto my skin and there aren’t any visible exfoliating beads. Upon spreading and closer inspection, you can make out the fine bits. I think they must be the bamboo powders. It is densely packed with these beads, so you’ll get a good scrub leaving you with clean (no oily residue) smooth skin that is soft and bouncy to the touch. It’s somewhat like a micro exfoliant that is strong (irony). And like all clarins products, this smells heavenly.

The texture of this scrub is different from most i’ve used. When I scoop it out of the jar, it’s slippery and doesn’t stick easily to my fingers so i have to really scoop it out. Really feels like actual salt.

I like my body scrubs to have a layer of oil when I wash it off, as I believe it’s more moisturizing that way. See the layer of oil and the consistency of the scrub.

It has a lovely fruity scent, supposedly of cherry blossoms but it smells like strawberries to me. Compared to Flake Away, its scent isn’t as strong and also doesn’t last as long.

[Review] Eversoft Organic Apricot Deep Action Facial Scrub

Standard

Was looking for a cheap scrub and spot this – i rmb its less than SGD$7 for 100g.

as you can tell i’ve used about 2/3 of the tube

Formulated in Japan! made in malaysia
i am looking for something exfoliating with beads and this sounds like it can do the trick.

this is the scrub closeup

the cream is really full of beads, can feel it the moment you spread it. feels quite rough too. i am not sure how the famous St ive’s scrub feels like so i cant compare. but i know not to exfoliate too often as it is bad for pores and and stresses your skin. i only do this about once a week ard my T zone only, since the skin on my face is very thin.

i also use this on my back, arms and body when i shower. i love the refreshing smell!
body certainly feels clearer and fairer after use.

as for my face, it helps to remove the rough feeling ard my nose and clear up the very large pores on my T zone. i rub very gently in hope not to enlarge them further.

not bad i would say, really value for money!!
i’ve bought the st ive’s one at a sale recently. will use that once this is done 🙂

[Review] Soap & Glory Flake Away

Standard

I Love a good scrub and always prefer to DIY instead of going to the spa. Somehow it doesn’t feel as clean and they don’t usually reach all the places as thoroughly as I would like.

This is a serious body scrub, not one of these “i can hardly feel it, gentle” type scrubs. Looking at the exfoliating beads, you cant really tell but it has a thick rough texture which might be too harsh for some skin but i love this. But I find it especially good for elbows and heels cos most scrubs aren’t rough enough to slough away the dead skin. Another thing about the texture is that it’s easy to slap on and it sticks to your skin such that u don’t have to worry about it sliding off your legs when it’s wet.

My skin feels soft with a nice light layer of oil so u can choose to skip applying your body lotion. I have use it sparingly and only reach for more product from the tub when the beads have dissolved on my body. Otherwise, it becomes difficult to wash off and may feel overly greasy cos of the oil so use it sparingly. Skin feels moisturized but not oily after rinse.

It also has the lovely scent of Miss Dior Cherie. It’s pretty strong and can last at least half a day fr me and on those days I’ll skip my perfume.

This is my 3rd tub btw ;p

[Review] CURE natural aqua gel

Standard

i’m sure almost all of you have heard/use/seen this pdt “one sold every 20 seconds!”.. its been around the market for more than 1 year. and quite heavily publicised in watsons and their roadshows.

my half used bottle.

i have to admit i have not been using this as much as i should, thats the downside of having too many things on your shelf, and i can be more diligent on skincare. =P

to me this is ‘exfoliation at its gentliest’, because this does not use any microbeads or soap formula, unlike the other exfoliating products on the market. to me exfoliation is very important as my oily comdination skin tends to build up alot of sebum in the day, and if my face is washed without exfoliating, i feel like my skin in not completely skin, and whatever products after that from toner to serum is not absorbed properly.

this is 100% natural, with no preservatives or frangrances, so shelf life is pretty short (1 year). i should really throw this away since my bottle is >>>1 year =(

here’s some photos

i must say the skin feels smoother and cleaner after that, and you can physically see the dead skin being removed in front of your naked eyes! the whitish flakes are a combination of the gel reacting with the protein/dead skin cells… and indirectly those also hope to exfoliate physically when you rub.

time to put on my toner and moisturizer!

this cost $42 at selected watsons store, i got mine at Parkway.
